this kind of behavior is a little different from a mere nationalism. those hackers, i believe most still in their early 20s or even younger, are in a stage of life seeking self-identity. an american adv professional once commented on chinese nationalism among young people and said that it is more a psychological issue than a political issue.
in different periods of history, young people have different targets to attack in order to show off. and unfortunately in this particular period of time, multinationals, especially those from the united states, are in a vulneralbe position.
