With the sale of IBM's personal computer business to Chinese company Lenovo Group Limited, two emerging trends quickly move front and center: The increasing commoditization of technology and the emergence of Chinese companies as global players. Wharton professors say both trends warrant watching and raise some key questions. Can Lenovo become a global player and integrate IBM's U.S. managers? Will IBM's PC customers defect to rivals like Dell Computer? Can state-owned Chinese companies become dominant in the international markets?

why they put pics like this in their web site? isn't there a campaign against web porn in china? perhaps the editors think pics like this are not porn for english readers, or they need to add some pepper into the black coffee to make their readers happier? not sure. but anyway, after i see this pic, i forget why i come to the china daily web site and what materials i am looking for in the first place.

update: somebody tells me this is an “art pic”, not a porn pic. ok, i love "art pic" like this one, but not here in china daily web site.

shenzhenren's story of Thievery, part XXXVIII inspired a lot of people to tell their stories of thieves, including john's holiday thievery and matt's lock your doors, too! here is mine.

a thief guru doesn't steal money from you, he just waits for your invitation, to invite him to steal money from you.

yes, some of you will call him a swindler, i call him a thief guru.

last year we organized a forum, and sent out invitations to some media guys. a call came back and one of my people picked up the call, “hello, may i help you?”

“yes, i am from China Central Televison, i heard from my friends that you are organizing a big forum. may i attend?”

“from CCTV? sure, it's our honor to have CCTV report this event. send us your name card and we will pick you up at the airport.”

a few days later, the CCTV guy showed up in the event. he was handsome and talkative and nice. he brought a man with a huge TV camera and shot the whole event from beginning to the end. and they also interviewed a few participants with that huge TV camera.

we treat them (and other media guys) with a lunch and paid his round trip tickets.

the story just begins.

after they returned to beijing, they started to chase one of the event sponsors, which is a big company with a lot of advertising money. and the CCTV guy talked with that company in a hotel room about advertising for that company in CCTV with “very reasonable prices”.

after the event, i found this CCTV guy's name card looks a little bit strange, i couldn't tell where went wrong, but my gut feeling was telling me i should call CCTV immediately. i called and CCTV didn't have anyone with that name.

i contacted with that company and police and we developed a plan to catch this “CCTV guy”. but strangly enough, that company called that guy and his mobile phone stopped functioning.

p.s. i think that huge TV camera is also a fake one. they shot all the event with nothing inside of the camera. we are just like fools :(

compare with the thief guru, this little thief is nothing
