well, i have tried to consolidate my chinese new year dinner parties several days ago. now i can tell you that i failed the first round. an "important" friend didn't come for the party today and we have to arrange another one with him.

other updates:

1) my shuttlecock skills elevated greatly, thanks to my wife, now i can take 6 without pause, but still far behind her, she can take more than 60 without pause

2) <kong-fu> is a great movie, worth to buy and keep, not sure non-chinese could enjoy the humor of stephen chow.

Plot:
A hapless wanna be gangster, Sing, must overcome his inability to wield a knife and demonstrate his mettle in order to become a member of the notorious Axe Gang. The Axe Gang, meanwhile, want to reign supreme by occupying the most coveted territory, which is a sacred street protected by an unlikely cast of characters, many of whom are highly skilled kung fu masters disguised as ordinary people. After several encounters with thugs and a fearsome adversary known as the Beast, Sing overcomes his inadequacy and realizes he is the greatest kung fu master of them all, destined to protect the sacred street.

3) the shopping mall near my parents' home is terriblely desolate, don't know why, i will post a few pics taken there

4) due to the bad weather, cancel the bullfighting "art" performance

5) continue the "no-news and no-blogs day" (certainly a few of my favorite blogs not included in this list)

6) successfully resist the tempatation of many fine foods made of meat, attain the "80% no-meat" goal

what is a chinese style capitalism? there are different intepretations and some even deny it is a different style capitalism.

recently i read two books about zhejiang province, and from what i understand, zhejiang province, especially cities like wenzhou, represents something that could be called a chinese style capitalism.

1) initiatives are not taken by the government, but as soon as it proves to be workable, the government will help to promote them to other places

2) changes are first encouraged out of the current system, as soon as it proves to be workable, they will be invited to replace the current system

3) various experiements are encouraged in limited regions, as soon as it proves to be workable, they will be introduced to other regions of the province

well, you might think that all of those are dull ideas.

but isn't it the model followed by chinese in economic, social and political evolutions? and isn't it a model that worked quite well so far? perhaps it reflects both the limitations and advantages of "chinese style capitalism" (or "chinese style socialism").

no, the "chinese style capitalism" can not rewrite the disciplines how economy works, but it can create a new way to make economic and social progress. that's what matters for many. like japan a few decades ago, china has goals, but it's a big challenge for her to find a way to get to there, a way that is workable in a country like china.

i think this "roadmap" could be named as a "chinese style capitalism".
