this job fair is held every week, targeting towards entry-level job seekers, many of them are from outside of shanghai, young and inexperienced. although the municipal government has made some improvements, the city of shanghai is still not a friendly place to those young guys with ambitions and energy. to find a place to live is the first challenge, i met a few applicants who asked me "does the company have a dormitory?". and what's more frustrating is that many firms don't consider applicants from outside of shanghai because that means company has to pay additional fringe benefits to them.

in my case, those young shanghainese i have met before are not good staff for those entry-level positions. compared with their peers in other provinces of china, they are not indenpendent and persistent enough, and they are not serious to anything except enjoying life:

"do you have free lunch?"

"do you reimburse the taxi fees?"

"do you have insurance?"

"do you have incentive travels?"

"do you have staff clubs?"

well, most of them came after lunch time. as a shanghainese, what i can say to them is: climb up the career ladder or die.
