via: china daily, read the article: NPC to review anti-trust code

almost 100 years behind of the states, china finally starts to launch her first anti-trust law. i am glad that my country moves forward, and i am glad to see that the article says:

"The problem is that monopolizers are making money at the expense of the interests of the society as a whole," said Zhang.

but from other sources, mostly private media but also some state media, i hear people taking about using anti-trust law as a tool to keep those foreign multinationals from seizing market shares and dominating chinese market.

this reminds me another article on the chinese home appliance manufacturer - Haier, who entered the international market and established a few bases in the US. the author, an economist, comments that he can not see the reason why Haier was eager to enter the US market, finally he concludes in his article that perhaps the moves are inspired by the CEO's other aspirations like "we are determined to be one of the fortune 500 in X years".

business is business. sports is sports. politics is politics.

the ultimate purpose of business is making money. using anti-trust law to curb foreign competitors or spending company money to buy "respect" seems not a smart idea.

i understand that my countryman have too many desires (or fears) and too limited tools at this moment, but be patient and be focused, otherwise, just like an old chinese saying: "you pick up a sesame and dump a watermelon".
