i have heard this question many times before, "when do you chinese think it's time to give back to the society?"
although there are many charities and people work as volunteer in various fields, i have to admit that working for the public without monetary returns is not a popular idea here in china. as a matter of fact, i have never seen any people plan to work as volunteers.
this afternoon, for the first time in my life, a friend of mine told me that he wanted his wife to work as volunteer to take care of senior citizens in hospitals. he is a rich businessman and doesn't like his wife waste her time doing all the senseless things at home. hope this revolutionary concept won't be the luxury of ordinary chinese.
