we should not be surprised that the recent anti-japan-right-wing protest are interpreted by the west in their unique perspectives, all in all, it's a universal phenomenon and i bet many chinese (including me) have the same problem in understanding other nations/cultures. here is a new example:

in simon world, this pic below is believed to be an angry chinese woman who protested in nanjing, china. this image fits with the way the west interpret the recent anti-japan-right-wing protest in china - angry, chaotic mobs, manipulated by the government, took to the streets and protested something they don't really understand.

simon world commented:

Because so many people seem to be complaining that the last batch of protesting Shanghai beauties weren't angry enough, here's a lady from Nanjing on Friday that's showing a lot more passion, although probably not as hot.

as a matter of fact, this is a protest in tokyo, japan. some of the protesters (very probably japanese people) dressed in chinese, korean and indonesian fashions shouted slogans.

a commentator from peking duck had a very good quote for this, quite stimulating for both westerners and chinese in viewing and understanding other nations/cultures:

By the way, to all westerners on this blog: here are the words (translated from Chinese) from an honest western reporter:“For westerners, a real China doesn't exist; we are not interested in her. For us, China is just a huge screen. We have come with our illusions and project our dreams, wills and feelings all on this screen since 17th century…”
