via: shanghaiist, read the post: saving water-we will drink to that
the shanghai municipal government recently proposed on tv how to save energies - keep the aircon above 26 dc, take off ties and shirts, buy water-saving flush toilets, etc.
the coming energy crisis led to events from mine disasters killed hundreds of people to confrontations with american politicians over Unocal takeover. there is a higher awareness of the importance for saving energy, but the challenge is, how to pass this sense of crisis to individuals that could make the biggest contribution to building an "energy-saving society". last year, for the first time in china, i found hotels have different options to offer new bathroom articles, you could choose to use the remaining supplies instead to have new ones. this new measure helps hotels save money and elevate images and tells us that government could make efforts in two aspects - to use market mechanism to stimualte energy-saving initiatives and make people proud of such endeavors.

i have a lot of great ideas as how to save energies at home and in office, here are a few of tehm:
- watch pirated DVD movies (forgive me) with all lights off
- eat cold noodles instead of hot noodles
- put a bottle of water into the water tank of the flush toilet
- sleep naked and work half-naked (no?)
- don't use the car untill there are 5 people to use it and don't use the bike until there are 2 people to use it (sorry i forget bike doesn't consume energy)
- what else? drop the mp3 and buy a FM radio again
but after calculating how much money i could save by doing all these great things, i am very disappointed, all what i could save is merely a small money for a bottle of coke.
