life of our friends are in a terrible mess. one of them, just married, chat with girls online and date them offline, was found by his wife recently. one of them, surprised why his wife was addicted to the internet, was told by her that she will find an "online wife" for him if he allows her to keep the "online relationship" with her "online husband". another one of them, after keeping a relationship with his online girl for one year, decided to get divorce with his wife. i need to live in another place at night so my wife could accompany and soothe the desperate wife, who cried all night.

no kidding, these are true stories of our friends.

a reader asked me questions about the recent mining disaster in heilongjiang province:

I just completed reading about yet another mining disaster in China. Are there not world organizations that have ANY interest over the problems within China's mining communities?? Does China not have to answer to any humanitarian organizations?

i don't know if there are any international organizations to be involved, but the most important thing is to prevent similar disasters happen again in the future. the repetitive mining disasters just show that the "system" failed to separate the interests of the local officials from the mining firms, which became the root cause for the negligence of safety measures by the local governments.

the central government requested (actually set a deadline for) local officials to withdraw their shares from the mining business but were resisted by various means.

well, with the monopoly of the power, the local officials just can not refuse the temptations of the easy and bloody money. the administritive regulations will bring the death toll down for a while but the problem can not be resolved without a reform of the "system".
