china-ss, china-sss (what a name!) is a newly established and the first low-end airline in china, it offers cheap tickets, some as low as 99 RMB (roughly 10 USD). the one-way ticket to Hainan island costs 399 RMB and was so popular that you could only book the tickets of Jan 4th next year. according to my friend, it's not as bad as this one, but what you can expect during the whole journey is a bottle of cheap mineral water.

"the poorman's hawaii", as somebody calls it, is an island in south china that in recent years developed into a subtropical resort destination, attracting many chinese who can't afford visiting hawaii or phuket. as one advertisement boosts, "the poorman's hawaii" is:

Picture Hawaii without skyscrapers, a winter Florida without congested highways, California without the smog and Mexico's Cancun with more exotic culture

maybe i should try my skill of developing a "better" ad for "the poorman's hawaii":

the sand is whiter and softer than wakiki beach and the water is as blue as the andaman sea, the Hawaii without japanese signs, the Phuket that still allows motorboat, the Okinawa with prettier girls and the Nice with nicer locals

soudenjapan, a frequent commentator here, wrote a post on the china daily boards, asking "is there anything we should learn from today's china?":

... when I ponder on the phenomenon called "China's rise," I always end up wondering one thing: that is, if China is to be a world-class leader, she needs to be respected by the world community for something she does, something distinctive to China. But is there any distinguished quality, remarkable invention, or any outstanding achievement for which the rest of the world admires China and Chinese people, or which makes us feel that China is indeed a world-class leader? What should the rest of the world respect China for as a leader?

the unspoken words, as many of us can find, are that china still need to build up "something distinctive" so that she could be respect as one of the world "leaders".

i don't know how many people around me care about the perspect of china becoming a world "leader", as far as i am concerned, there is nothing more important than making china a place that most poeple could live a decent life. great with chaos, or, happy but mediocre, if i have to choose one of them, i'd rather want my country more like switzerland than italy.

ayawawa, a former journalist who published her photos online, became a hot searched word among koreans. my "friday girl" post about ayawawa has received nearly 20,000 page views in the past few days from korea and i found that ayawawa recently set up her own web site to promote herself, with the mobile number of her "agent" and, certainly, a lot of her photos.
