a brief translation of the story ...

laowai (an american) and i walked out of the Wuhan univ. and found this man lying along a sidewalk ...

we first thought he was a begger, but when we approached him and looked at him carefully, we thought he might not be a begger. he dressed well with one foot naked, and he was not drunken either, there were a can of milk and some oatmeals in the plastic bag ...

people came and told us that the man has been there for a long time. he was shivering and the laowai said something like "we must have somebody to help him", i agreed and wondered if we should call 911. i have nevered called 120 but have called 110, nowadays policemen are disturbed by too many 110 calls, people even call 110 when they forget their keys at home, or too lazy to buy a breakfast, no kidding, there are people in Wuhan who called 110 to deliver takeout noodles to their homes ...

i made a 111 call and the laowai went to raodside to guide the police car ...

laowai, a 78-year-old guy, worried that the man might be cold with the foot naked, helped him to take the shoe

china is quickly becoming an old-age society, it is not unusual that old man lose their ways, so their child will put a contact note with them. i tried to find something like that but found nothing ...

a passerby (a doctor) came to check the man ...

after checking the doctor said the man was fine but just too cold and hungry ...

we moved the man under the sunshine and covered him with his jacket, then police came ...

then an ambulance came. the ambulance was from Jiu-Zhu-Zhan, literally "relief station", which transfered thier function from sending city swagmen back to their homes in rural areas to helping them after the notorious Sun Zhi-gang incident happened ...

they moved the man to the ambulance ...

moved him to the ambulance ...

in fact, if laowai and i didn't pay attention to the man, then mostly nobody will follow us with interest and care, but as soon as we care, more pople followed ...
