Disappointed with GW's welcome speech

GW's welcome speech summerized sino-US relations like this, in my own words:

china and the US are seperated by ocean but connected by money

GW's expectations are not very high, in my own words again:

help us make money in china

help us put things in order in north korea and iran

don't make trouble for us

we will give you something back like the "one-china policy"

thank you!

it is like a boring business realtionship, isn't it? it sounds like a selfish and inward-looking nation of teh 19th century. what i expect china could benefit from the US is more than money, and while china needs to have a more open mind to foreign cultures, what US needs is the belief that relationship based on money doesn't last, and a less confrontational approach to sell its values and other cultural treasures.
