圣诞花令:圣诞红/一品红
Holiday Centerpiece:Pinsettia/Christmas Flower
Native to South America and Mexico, the poinsettia was named after Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first American ambassador to Mexico. Enchanted by the winter-blooming plant, Poinsett imported it to America, and it has since become a national holiday tradition.
Poinsettias bloom each year during the holiday season and will stay in bloom for several weeks. To care for them, just follow these simple instructions:
1. Place in indirect sunlight for at least six hours per day. If direct sun can't be avoided, diffuse light with a shade or sheer curtain.
2. Avoid placing outdoors during winter months or near cold drafts, as poinsettias are sensitive to cold. Don't place near excessive heat and avoid placing near appliances, fireplaces or ventilating ducts.
3. Water only when soil is almost dry, and then thoroughly saturate the soil.
4. Remove from urn before watering and allow water to drain completely. Don't over water. Empty any water left standing in the saucer.
5. Fertilize only after blooming season with a balanced, all-purpose fertilizer.
