Paris, the younger prince of Troy, fought for keeping Helen, his lover. Agamemnon, his purpose can be inferred from what he said to his brother Menelaus: “I came here not for your pretty wife. I came here for Troy.” Menelaus, Helen’s husband, came to Troy for taking revenge on Paris, who had insulted him by taking his wife away. Achilles, he attended the war for being remembered forever. He fought for glory, eventhough he was told by his mother that he wouldn’t come back from the war. The king of Troy, he had experienced various kinds of wars, some for fame, some for power and some for glory, thinking that a war for love made more sense than the rest. Hector, Paris’ elder brother, said to his wife: “You know I don’t want to fight. I want to see my son growing tall and see girls chasing after him.” He took part in the war, because he regarded himself as a servant of Troy and he had the responsibility to serve for Troy. I think what he said and thought represented the other warriors.

在“Helen of Troy ”中,Achilles是个没有感情的冷血的war-loving dog, enjoys tasting his enemies’ blood.

对于特洛伊战争,在“Troy”中,Paris是这样说的: “This is not a conflict between nations, but a dispute between two men.” “Troy”也说到了 “ War is young men dying and old men talking.” 我想起了这么一句话: “There are no good wars, only good soldiers.”
