
今天NYTimes上有关中国的新闻有两条。一条是胡锦涛在澳门公开批评香港特区政府执政不利。一条就是关于中国农村贫困家庭生活的困境Rural Exodus for Work Fractures Chinese Family。NYTimes最近在做一个系列的有关中国城乡贫富差距的报道专题China's Great Divide,今天谈到Family。
新闻详细具体地描述了小女孩Yang Shan一家的生活。Yang Shan十岁,跟爷爷奶奶一起生活,她的爸妈都到远方的城市打工去了。他们辛苦的劳作着,可是付出他们的全部劳动力,还是很难挣到足够的钱来养家,治病,给Yang Shan付学费。新闻里对这个家庭的描述对我们中国人来说看着一点都不新鲜,不过看了,想到我们的人民还在受着这样的一些苦难还是很悲哀。最后一段,看着小Yang Shan想念她的爸爸妈妈,却很难实现,觉得好感动。sigh,what can i do?
In early December, she sat outside and practiced writing. The letters she had sent her parents months earlier never reached them; she did not have a reliable addresses.
Now, she started writing in a notebook.
"I want a ticket, a boat ticket and a bus ticket," she scribbled for a visiting photographer.
Where does she want to go?
"To see my parents," she answered. "I want to see my mom and dad. I think about them all the time."
