留学生活随手记

趁着放假，花了半天时间读完了网上的Manual，隔天就去DMV考了笔试，20道题漏答一道，错三道，险过。最低标准是错6道。这周末Learner permit就可以寄给我了。不过照照片的时候蛮滑稽的，我前面拍了一长队的人，照相的阿姨让我背靠墙壁站在地上的两个大脚印上，还要求我要笑，然后强光 一闪，很像解放前的记者对牢采访对象啪的一下燃起一股烟雾。照完了我的眼前萦绕着一个耀眼的大光点死活褪不掉。

另一件事情就是趁着春假我研究了手里的所有tax form，Internet所有中国留学生讨论退税问题的论坛都留下了我的足迹，就这样第一次还算错了，算到最后我还欠联邦政府20美金，可笑！被人知道 要笑死了，人家都是大把大把地拿回来，赶紧地，重算，结果还好，大概可以拿回来200美金吧。到了美国才深刻体会到什么是“税”，而臭名昭著的纽约州更以 税率高而出名，网上大家讨论的避税trick，我暂时还不能完全参透，因为很多情况我还没有碰到过，不过对每个留学生来说，三月真是让人头痛的一个月啊。

今天突然担心起在纽约的人身安全，有点杞人忧天喔 :(

Hi, Allison. I think it should be ok. you know I have the same worry as you when I first went to NYC, but it turned out is ok. I went there by myself,and lived in the hostel by myself. I went out earlier everyday and came back to the hostel late everynignt at about 10:00Pm. I think it should be ok for you.

I'll be in Mount Sinai Medical School at Madison Avenue. But plan to visit Columbia Uni. during my stay. Maybe you can bring me around if u r free :)
